The Pressures Of The Pandemic, Path Of A Shadow, And More With Pressure Guitarist Simon Forsell

Hello, thank you for joining us today. How are you?

I am feeling very good today thank you! It’s a rocking day here in Sweden, warm nice weather and its Friday!

Tell us a bit about your new album, what was writing and recording for this album like?

Our new album was released 7th of May this year! Its called “Path Of A Shadow” and is a Story Metal concept album. When you play and write Story Metal you always base your songs and lyrics upon real events and persons. The album took almost 2 years to write! And doing Story Metal you have to allow the creation process to take time. You go out and experience things – dare to live life or how would you be able to tell stories from life if you have not experienced it? Then you write the songs based upon all these stories and writing the songs are finding the right mood for the feeling that tells the song. So each and every song has different influences and backgrounds. That’s the core of Story metal. So we have been collecting stories, writing and recording for two years and we finally released this! We are very proud of it and hope you like it. The concept itself is a story about you, the listeners, life but told from your shadows perspective. You can never escape your shadow and he is always around. He has seen it all and imagine for a moment that your shadow came to life and sat you down and wanted to tell you about your life but from his perspective. That’s the Path Of A Shadow and it will tell many truths, both things that you didn’t know about yourself and things that you didn’t want anyone to know about you. Remember that the shadow has experienced it all together with you.

Given the current state of the world, did it poise any issues towards the completion of the

No, we have been able to do a lot of things remote and in our studio. I would even go that far and say music-wise it has been good because you have got the time to really think through each and every message that is told in the stories. And given the situation in the world, there has been many, many stories that needs to be told.

Of course the current state of things isn't ideal, have you started to plan for what comes next

once the world starts opening up again?

Yeah, we plan to go out and play a lot! Tour, do concept shows, festivals and all that we can get our hands upon! Hope to see you all out on the road in the near future!

Tell us a bit about yourself as a musician, who influences you?

I am Simon of Pressure. I have been playing guitar since I was a very small child and it has stuck with me throughout the years. I practice around 4-6 hours a day and live and breathe for my music. I cannot imagine my life without being able to express my feelings and my true self through music and my guitar. I would say that life itself influences me. I listen to so many different genres and styles so I do not have a primary source of inspiration.

Who is your biggest bucket list band you've shared the stage with? Who would you love to

share the stage with next?

As Pressure was ready to go out on stage and had booked a couple of gigs just when the pandemic struck we have not shared the stage with so many bands yet. And we don’t rank bands in that way. I think all artists and bands are talented and great in their own way, even if they hasn’t been lucky enough to get a big break. I would gladly share the stage with any band that stays true to their music.

Last but not least, is there any message you would like to share with your fans?

Yes of course. Stay strong and stay safe. Its important for us all that we all come together so we can get out of this state that the world is in right now. We need to get back out, open up stages and let people experience new and good music again. So support your local bands, keep rocking and stay metal
