Interview With Jorge Ramirez (Jet Jaguar)

Hello there, thank you for joining us today. How are you?

Hi Jorge (bassist) here! I’m doing great, thanks for having me today.

Tell us a bit about your lastest album, what was writing and recording for this album like?

We began writing new songs after winning the Wacken Metal Battle competition back in 2017, and naturally this event had a major influence on the themes and the music for the album. We had 2 recording periods, one in 2018 and the other one the following year. “Endless Nights” was finally released last July 20th under German label Pride & Joy Music.

Given the current state of the world, did it poise any issues towards the completion of the album?

Well, the album was already finished before the pandemic, so not really. But obviously we had to pause all plans for touring, which is the most fun part!

Of course the current state of things isn't ideal, have you started to plan for what comes next once the world starts opening up again?

Sure, we were already planning touring both Mexico and Europe after the release of the album; sadly we are still waiting. But as soon as concerts are allowed again we’ll be back on the road, that’s for sure.

Tell us a bit about yourself as a musician, who influences you?

Something really cool is that we all have a wide variety of influences from across different music genres. Personally, I’m into classic rock, 80s metal, alt- rock, dream pop, etc.

Who is your biggest bucketing band you've shared the stage with? Who would you love to share the stage with next?

Again, I think the answer depends on the band member answering this, but personally I’d say that sharing stage twice with Accept has been mind-blowing to me. And obviously Maiden would be a dream come true.

What are some of the main themes behind the new album? What story are you trying to convey?

As said before, we began writing shortly after the Wacken competition, so we had all of this incredible energy and euphoria going on within the band, and it was also the time of our first tours. So, the album title “Endless Nights” reflects the long nights of traveling, writing, recording… It represents all of the fun, but also all of the hard work that was going on at that point in time of our musical careers.

Last but not least, is there any message you would like to share with your fans?

Make sure you follow us on social media (@jetjaguarmusic) and don’t miss our latest official video for our song "No Surrender,” out March 26th! Thank you for taking the time to interview us, cheers from Mexico!
