Interview with Anton Frick Kallmin (Hot Breath)

Hello Anton, thank you for joining us today. How are you?

If you take away the fact that there is a pandemic making almost everything pretty boring, well then I’m pretty fine. The sun is back in Gothenburg and spring is right around the corner. So is our new album Rubbery Lips!

Tell us a bit about your new album, what was writing and recording for this album like?

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves and really wanted everything to feel 100% right. This meant that we put a lot of time into writing it. We spend most of the summer of 2020 developing the songs. This made things run very smooth when recording began in September 2020. We had a good vibe in the studio from the moment we stepped inside.

Given the current state of the world, did it poise any issues towards the completion of the

album?

The current state of the world made us rethink our plans for 2020. We were supposed to go on a bigger tour as a support band. The plan from the beginning was to write a record later in the summer/ beginning of autumn. So a positive thing is that the world gets to hear the new record faster!

Of course the current state of things isn't ideal, have you started to plan for what comes next

once the world starts opening up again?

We have had talks with our European booking agency. Nothing can be written in stone, but we really hope that this current state doesn’t stick around much longer.

We are craving to hit the stage again.

Tell us a bit about yourself as a musician, who influences you?

A wide variety of stuff. I’m not the type of person who just listens to one specific genre of music. I enjoy everything from George Jones to Bathory.. If that makes any sense.

Who is your biggest bucketing band you've shared the stage with? Who would you love to

share the stage with next?

We did a show together with DAD in Sweden once. That was great.

I would love to go on tour with the hives. I think we could learn a lot from them. Or ABBA. That would just be awesome.

What are some of the main themes behind the new album? What story are you trying to

convey?

With “Rubbery Lips” we wanted to create a honest and sold piece of music, that really represents us as a band and who we are. The classic rock elements are all there, but you can also hear that we twist things around.

Jennifer does 95% of the lyrics, so you would have to ask her about the stories.

Last but not least, is there any message you would like to share with your fans?

Do yourselves a favour and buy our new record. If you think it sounds like total garbage, feel free to forward your complaints in the comment sections over at our social media pages.

Thank you so much for your time, Anton!
